2) The Tipton-Haynes State Historic Site

It is perhaps one of the most popular attractions in Johnson City. Colonel John Tipton, a local farmer and planter, used to live on 45 acres of land at the historic site. Colonel John Tipton handed the house to his son after his death. The Tipton-Haynes State Historic Site is a one-of-a-kind way to learn about Johnson City’s past and present.

3) The Reece Museum

The Reece Museum in Johnson City is also worth a visit. This museum houses approximately 25,000 artifacts and provides extensive historical information on Appalachia. The Reece Museum was one of the first museums in the state to earn accreditation from the American Alliance of Museums, and it is one of only 13 museums in the state to do so.

4) Johnson City Civic Center

The university’s Freedom Hall Civic Center, which has an 8,000-seat capacity, is also located in the park. The center is equipped with a high-quality sound system, dramatic lighting, and comfortable seats. The Civic Center has hosted popular acts such as Creed, Shrine Circus, Luke Bryan, Motley Crue, and Elvis Presley.

5) Local Community Theater
