There are five major types of advertisement formats. Single image ads, single video ads, carousel ads, slideshow ads, and canvas ads. Let’s discuss them below as well as the ad types and image sizes and how to start with Facebook ads.

  • Single image ads

It is a simple ad format that contains a text, an image, a title, a link description, and a call-to-action button, according to YourStory. It is also easily acceptable by Facebook and is the frequently used ad format as they are easy to be understood by the viewers. The recommended specs are: 1,200 x 628 pixels for the image size with 90 characters for the text, 25 characters for the headline and 30 characters for the link description.

  • Single video ads

It is just like the single image ads replaced with a video. Most audience usually watch with no sound on so the caption for this has to be effective and the time limit of the video should not exceed 60 minutes. The text recommended specs are almost the same for the single image ads. The text characters are the same, but the thumbnail image should be 1,200 x 675 pixels and the video format should be .mov or .mp4. File size should be 2.3 GB max with the resolution of at least 720p.

  • Carousel ads

Another type of Facebook ads wherein up to 10 products or pictures within a single ad unit are showcased and each item has its own description and link. The recommended specs for the image/video aspect ratio: 1:1 (square) and 90 characters for the text, 40 characters for the headline and 20 characters for the link description.

  • Slideshow ads

Slideshows are pictures in video forms and can be as short as 5 seconds to 50 seconds. The recommended specs are 1,280 x 720 pixels for the image size, 90 characters for the text, 25 characters for the headline and 30 characters for the link description.

  • Canvas ads

The latest type of Facebook ad format look like simple image advertisements when seen in the preview but when clicked, they are redirected to another site where they can engage with the website content.

It is not easy to gain results overnight especially if you’re still a starter with Facebook ads, but if you use the recommended specs and follow them, then your ads will be easily approved and you can start gaining attention from other users. You only need to exert hard work and effort and in no time, you will start achieving your desired results.
